Lyrically Speaking - 1/19/23

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Thu Jan 19, 2023 4:51 am

Among the many reasons that LSWE did not happen last year, one of them was because I came into January with only a single game completed. ONE GAME! When Vandal decided to host LS last summer, I gave him the game that Weasel had submitted to me to use, and later offered him that one game of mine as well. Unless I somehow missed it, he didn't use that game..... so here it is today! And assuming Vandal even saw that email, he's probably long since forgotten it, so he's eligible to play this as well...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme of the game...

1. The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.

2. Does she walk? Does she talk?
Does she come complete?
My homeroom, homeroom angel
Always pulled me from my seat

3. I guess I just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So I'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent

4. He's tearin' you apart
Ooh, every day, every day
He's tearin' you apart
Oh girl what can you say?

5. Close the door, leave the cold outside
I don't need nothing when I'm by your side
We got something that'll never die
Our dreams, our pride

6. There's times I've been mistaken
There's times I thought I'd been misunderstood, ooo yeah
So wait a minute darlin'
Can't you see we did the best we could, ooo we could

7. Just slow down if you want me
A man wants to be approached cool and romantically

8. I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

9. No man could test me, impress me
My cash flow would never ever end
'Cause I'd have all the money in the world

10. I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her

11. Mashed potato
Do the alligator

12. Lord, and when I get the paper I read it through and throu-ough
I, my girl never fail to see if there is any work for me...

1. The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.
Hey Jude - Beatles

2. Does she walk? Does she talk?
Does she come complete?
My homeroom, homeroom angel
Always pulled me from my seat
Centerfold - J Geils Band

3. I guess I just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So I'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent
So What - P!nk (I'll give her the ! for this song, which is pretty good...)

4. He's tearin' you apart
Ooh, every day, every day
He's tearin' you apart
Oh girl what can you say?
Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' - Journey (I don't just hate "Don't Stop Believin', this is among many other horrible Journey songs....)

5. Close the door, leave the cold outside
I don't need nothing when I'm by your side
We got something that'll never die
Our dreams, our pride
Born To Be My Baby - Bon Jovi

6. There's times I've been mistaken
There's times I thought I'd been misunderstood, ooo yeah
So wait a minute darlin'
Can't you see we did the best we could, ooo we could
Cuts Like A Knife - Bryan Adams (This was the trigger song for this game. I featured it on my blog in October 2021 and it mentioned in the Wiki article for the song about adding the Na-Na's after the chorus and how so many other songs had used that nonsense lyrics cop out. Gee, I hadn't thought about that before.... how many do?)

7. Just slow down if you want me
A man wants to be approached cool and romantically
We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off - Jermaine Stewart (A song from the Bizarro world of romance...)

8. I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air
Good Vibrations - Beach Boys

9. No man could test me, impress me
My cash flow would never ever end
'Cause I'd have all the money in the world
Rich Girl - Gwen Stefani

10. I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her
A Long December - Counting Crows (Maybe Esto will come by and play a couple hours late again. Man, it hurts that nobody got this one.... this is one of the best songs of the 90's! Not that that's saying much....)

11. Mashed potato
Do the alligator
Land of 1,000 Dances - Wilson Pickett and a boatload of Kopy Kats

12. Lord, and when I get the paper I read it through and throu-ough
I, my girl never fail to see if there is any work for me...
Get A Job - Silhouettes and that band everyone Image Bonused

Theme?

Na-Na-Na-Na etc. lyrics. I've presented themes before that I thought were easier than this one that drew crickets, I honestly didn't think many would get this one.... but maybe leading off with Hey Jude helped.

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, you know what to do....

And because almost everyone got the theme, it made the Image Bonus a true competition. Earl wins the IBB for the perfectly zoned shelf full of NANA. Yes, I can appreciate a neatly arranged counter since I rarely see them at work anymore...

Hey Jude - Beatles

2. Does she walk? Does she talk?
Does she come complete?
My homeroom, homeroom angel
Always pulled me from my seat

Centerfold - J. Geils Band

3. I guess I just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So I'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent

So What - P!nk

4. He's tearin' you apart
Ooh, every day, every day
He's tearin' you apart
Oh girl what can you say?

Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' - Journey

5. Close the door, leave the cold outside
I don't need nothing when I'm by your side
We got something that'll never die
Our dreams, our pride

nope

6. There's times I've been mistaken
There's times I thought I'd been misunderstood, ooo yeah
So wait a minute darlin'
Can't you see we did the best we could, ooo we could

Cuts Like a Knife - Bryan Adams

7. Just slow down if you want me
A man wants to be approached cool and romantically

We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off - Jermaine Stewart

8. I hear the sound of a gentle word
On the wind that lifts her perfume through the air

Good Vibrations - Beach Boys

9. No man could test me, impress me
My cash flow would never ever end
'Cause I'd have all the money in the world

Rich Girl - Gwen Stefani

10. I guess the winter makes you laugh a little slower
Makes you talk a little lower about the things you could not show her

A Long December - Counting Crows

11. Mashed potato
Do the alligator

Land of 1,000 Dances - Wilson Pickett

12. Lord, and when I get the paper I read it through and throu-ough
I, my girl never fail to see if there is any work for me...

nope

Theme?

Na na na not getting it

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that fits the theme of today's game.

Na Na Na (Kiss Him Goodbye) - Steam (Parenthetical just for you...)

Image Bonus: If you know the theme, you know what to do....

No mention of my "clever" collection of Na and Pepper shakers? I tried so hard to be clever and not just another bannana or Batman. :(

While I had assumed that had to be the reason for that image, I wasn't sure. If I expected anyone to go with a sodium reference, it would have been mrk...

OK..... 2 JJC points for you!
