Yellowjackets on Showtime

#1 Post by Vandal » Sun Jan 01, 2023 9:56 pm

Season one of this 10-episode series came out in 2021 but I just got around to watching it. What a great series! It's the story of a 1996 New Jersey girl's high school soccer team that wins the state title and heads to Seattle for nationals, but their plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness. They think they are going to be rescued quickly, but the must survive for 19 months.

The stories jumps between 1996 and present day (2021) several times an episode. The wilderness scenes show that something terrible happened while they were out there, but no one besides them knows the truth, even 25 years later. Some folks will do anything to know the truth.

The acting and writing are first rate and it's definitely worth checking out. Season two is in the works. coming in March, 2023.

Any series about Georgia Tech sports is worth watching. I'll have to check it out.

I didn't realize that Georgia Tech is a high school in New Jersey...

The Yellowjackets found a league where they're more competitive than in the ACC.

Season 2 is underway and completely bizarro. Should be quite a ride.

My high school’s sports mascot was Yellowjackets
Suitguy is not bitter.

feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive

The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Season 2 is over and things took a turn for the strange(r), but not necessarily better. It just seems like they are stretching the plots thinly to make the reported five-year run.

There may be shark jumping involved by next season.

I am haflway through season 2 and I think Yellowjackets are already behind the speedboat heading for the ramp.

Season 3 coming in 2025.

Following the writers and actors strikes that delayed production for most scripted series, the writers room for the Showtime psychological thriller reopened in September. Pre-production for the series was shut down just one day after the WGA strike began last May.
