Looking for Netflix opinions

We would like to get Netflix, but we don't have a Netflix ready television, nor does it have an HDMI port.
Would our best move be to buy a new Smart TV?

Yes. If it doesn't have an HDMI port, it must be ancient.

Thank you, MsKing and Bob.
I didn't think 10 years was ancient, but it may be even older than that. We got it on a Black Friday deal, so it may be Sony was just unloading a bunch of stuff they knew would never sell in the future. Until we decided we want Netflix, we were happy with it. Hey, we get Broncos and Rockies games . . .
I foresee a trip to the television store very early in 2023. Very early.

Do you know you can watch Netflix on your PC?

or get an Amazon Fire TV (or some other unit) with an HDMI to whatever adapter. You might have component inputs (I would expect you do), or something else, no way for me to know, but there are adapters out there. Component would keep the HD picture from the HDMI.

My tv is probably about as old as yours, I know I already had it when my brother moved in with me in 2015. It's a Sony VIzio and several years ago I got notice from Amazon that it was no longer compatible (I assume the same for Netflix, but I didn't have that, so I never tried it). At the time I didn't watch anything streaming other than Amazon and didn't want to get a new tv just for that, so I got a Firestick. Cost me 15 or 20 bucks (I think it was a Prime Days deal) and the whole new world of streaming opened up! Netflix, Disney, Paramount, tubi, I don't think I've come across anything that I can't get with it. Except Altitude, of course, which is the only reason I keep Directv...

I did the same, but don't you need an HDMI port to plug it into?

Yes, she could get a converter for about $40, but that won't give 1080P.
