The White Sox have lost 79 games so Chicago cannot win more than 83 games. Cleveland has won 87 games so the White Sox cannot win the American League Central Division. The Yankees, Toronto, and Tampa Bay each have won at least 85 games so Chicago will finish behind at least two non-division winners in the American League Eastern Division. Houston and Seattle each have won at least 84 games so the White Sox will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the American League Western Division.

Another long cold winter for Chicago baseball. The White Sox have been toastified. --Bob

The fans' hopes can jump into any of the state's 10,000 lakes. The Twins have been toastified. --Bob

Baltimore has lost 76 games so the Orioles cannot win more than 86 games. The Yankees have won 96 games so Baltimore cannot win the American League Eastern Division. Toronto has won 88 games so the Orioles will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the American League Eastern Division. Tampa Bay has won 86 games, Seattle has won 86 games, and Houston has won 102 games. The Orioles have lost their head-to-head series against both the Rays and the Mariners so they cannot win a two-way tiebreak against either team. In a three-way tie-break between Tampa Bay, Seattle, and Baltimore, Baltimore comes in third, so the Orioles will finish behind a second non-division winner in the American League Eastern Division and a non-division winner in the American League Western Division.

Camden Yards may be in Charm City, but it'll spend October vacant. Baltimore has been toastified. --Bob

San Francisco has lost 79 games so the Giants cannot win more than 83. Los Angeles has won 109 games so San Francisco cannot win the National League Western Division. The Padres have won 87 games so the Giants will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Western Division. Atlanta, the Mets, and Philadelphia each have won at least 85 games so San Francisco also will finish behind at least two non-division winners in the National League Eastern Division.

Looks like another winter of San Francisco fog. The Giants have been toastified. --Bob

Milwaukee has lost 75 games so the Brewers cannot win more than 87. St. Louis has won 92 games so Milwaukee cannot win the National League Central Division. The Dodgers and Padres each have won at least 88 games so the Brewers will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Western Division. Atlanta and the Mets each have won at least 98 games so Milwaukee will finish behind at least one non-division winner in the National League Eastern Division. Philadelphia has won 87 games and won the season series against Milwaukee, and no other National League teams can win exactly 87 games, so the Brewers will finish behind a second non-division winner in the National League Eastern Division.

Time for Brewers fans to drown their sorrows with a cold one. Milwaukee has been toastified. --Bob
