#1 Post by Bob78164 » Tue Sep 06, 2022 12:13 pm

Applying the Fourteenth Amendment, a judge in New Mexico has removed Couy Griffin from his office as a County Commissioner and banned him for life from holding future public office, on the ground that after taking his oath of office he participated in the January 6 insurrection.

The definition of "insurrection" on page 29 is particularly instructive. --Bob
"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." Thomas Jefferson

Wow --it's not often that a person sees a New Mexico case cited with regard to a national issue. I wonder if I'll see it anyplace else.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller
