Merv has gotten creakier over the past year, he was 14 3/4 yrs old. He was sleeping most of the time, couldn't leap up anymore. The last week he spent lying on our bathroom floor, no eating, did drink.

Last couple of days just totally wobbly, slipping, drooling so this morning Jeff took him in.
He apparently had a tumor in a kidney, and while I knew he had kidney disease not that there was a tumor.

He had the best motor ever. Would sleep by my side when he could jump up.

I feel for you.

My cat, Snidely, who is over 20 years old, is getting ready for the Rainbow Bridge. He is in advanced stages of kidney disease, and I fear it is only a matter of days for him.

He is skin and bones now, and is not fully in control of his bladder.

However, he is still him, he does not give any indication he is in pain, and gets around fine. He eats like a horse, goes up and down the stairs, though slowly, gets up on the furniture and wants to be where ever I am.

I talked to him and asked him to give me some indication when it is time for me to say goodbye to him. It is hard to know when to make that decision. I don't want to.....

See, it's rough. Wish we'd taken him earlier. Down to 6 lbs. The drool was stinky which is a symptom. He walked like he'd had a stroke. It was fast.

Best cat ever which I'm sure Snidely is, too.

Thinking of you.

Sorry it went down, but glad it was fairly quick, overall. Small blessings don't help much at these times, but maybe a smidge.

Yep, I was wondering if he was on the way out even earlier, but he wasn't the mess he became this last week.

I have another cat, Mhysa. I don't know if she'll be any help in that area. She is a purebred Siamese. They are very loving, attention-seeking cats, and somewhat, shall we say, snooty, and Mhysa is the epitome of a Siamese. She gets a bit jealous of Snidely when he gets attention that should be given to her. I don't think Snidely being sick is one of her major concerns.....

When I was a kid we had an entire fam of Siamese. Beautiful but vocal. I had one right after college that would sit on top of the fridge and swipe at ya. And go in and out of drawers.

Oh yes. Mhysa has conversations with me. I have no idea what she's talking about, though. She swipes at Snidely if he happens to be lying near me.
