Lyrically Speaking 2022 - Day 7
July 5, 2022
TBone Tuesday
As mentioned previously, TBone was a guitarist and vocalist for a band called Dick Tracy in upstate New York during the mid to late 70s and into the 80s. He mentioned his band years occasionally here on the Bored, and it was clear that he was a true rock n roller and very likely played some of the songs below. Hey, we can only hope.
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist
1. After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
And if she had to die tryin'
She had one little promise she was gonna keep
2. No stop signs
Speed limit
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a wheel
Gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me around
3. Goin' down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
4. Do you have the time to listen to me whine
About nothing and everything all at once?
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it
5. I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet, yeah
6. But feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues
That feelin' good was good enough for me, mmm-hmm
7. I got a little change in my pocket goin' jing-a-ling-a-ling
Wants to call you on the telephone baby, a-give you a ring
But each time we talk, I get the same old thing
Always no hug-ee no kiss-ee until I get a weddin' ring
My honey my baby, don't put my love upon no shelf
She said don't hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself
8. Eager for action and hot for the game
The coming attraction, the drop of a name
They knew all the right people, they took all the right pills
They threw outrageous parties, they paid heavenly bills
9. Something's wrong, shut the light, heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of Snow White
Dreams of war, dreams of liars, dreams of dragons' fire
And of things that will bite, yeah
10. Yeah, they were dancing and singing
And moving to the grooving
And just when it hit me
Somebody turned around and shouted
11. Well, the Illinois central
And the Southern Central Freight
Got to keep on pushin', mama
You know they're runnin' late
12. Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that a 70s/80s cover band would play.
