Lyrically Speaking 2022 - Day 2

TBone Tuesday #1

Every Tuesday I will devote an LS game to the the memory of our too-soon-gone BB, TBone. He was a former rock band singer and guitarist who never lost his love for music even after he became physically unable to play or sing anymore. I never met him or heard his band, Dick Tracy, play (he posted some band photos on EFB), but he did mention some of the types of songs Dick Tracy would perform.

These are songs that were covered by up and coming bands in the 70s and 80s and beyond. Most bands had to (and still have to) prove they can play popular covers before venturing into original material.

Hey, you gotta start somewhere.

PS TBone would have aced this one, I just know it. RIP Thom!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist

1. See-saw swingin' with the boys in the school
With your feet flyin' up in the air
Singin' "Hey diddle-diddle with the kitty in the middle
Of the swing" like I didn't care

2. He smiled so I got up and asked for his name
That don't matter, he said
'Cause it's all the same

3. Had to cool me down to take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing
That the walls were shaking, the Earth was quaking
My mind was aching and we were making it

4. I know you'll think I'm like the others before
Who saw your name and number on the wall

5. Hey, don't write yourself off yet
It's only in your head, you feel left out
Or looked down on
Just try your best
Try everything you can
And don't you worry what they tell themselves
When you're away

6. Last night I hold Aladdin's lamp
So I wished that I could stay
Before the thing could answer me
Well, someone came and took the lamp away

7. You know, I feel so dirty when they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love her, but the point is probably moot

8. Never gonna stop, give it up.
Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch
Of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo.

9. Keep on whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna hear
'Cause it's true

10. Call me a relic, call me what you will
Say I'm old fashioned, say I'm over the hill
Today's music ain't got the same soul

11. Action speaks louder than words
And I'm a man of great experience
I know you got another man
But I can love you better than him

12. I've listened to preachers
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that a beginning band would learn to play.

RIP Thom!

1. See-saw swingin' with the boys in the school
With your feet flyin' up in the air
Singin' "Hey diddle-diddle with the kitty in the middle
Of the swing" like I didn't care

WALK THIS WAY - NOPE

2. He smiled so I got up and asked for his name
That don't matter, he said
'Cause it's all the same

3. Had to cool me down to take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing
That the walls were shaking, the Earth was quaking
My mind was aching and we were making it

4. I know you'll think I'm like the others before
Who saw your name and number on the wall

5. Hey, don't write yourself off yet
It's only in your head, you feel left out
Or looked down on
Just try your best
Try everything you can
And don't you worry what they tell themselves
When you're away

6. Last night I hold Aladdin's lamp
So I wished that I could stay
Before the thing could answer me
Well, someone came and took the lamp away

I wanna tell her that I love her, but the point is probably moot

Of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo.

9. Keep on whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna hear
'Cause it's true

Say I'm old fashioned, say I'm over the hill
Today's music ain't got the same soul

And I'm a man of great experience
I know you got another man
