Armed man arrested near Brett Kavanaugh’s home charged with attempting to murder a US judge

I've quoted from both CNN and Fox News. While reporting on the same incident, the two articles have a distinct difference. CNN doesn't name the justice the perp inteded to kill, just referring to the inteded victim as "the justice". Why?

CNN wrote:The Justice Department has charged the man who was arrested near Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s house in Maryland early Wednesday with attempting or threatening to kidnap or murder a US judge.

The man, Nicholas John Roske, had called emergency authorities saying he was having suicidal thoughts and had a firearm in his suitcase, leading to his arrest, according to the criminal complaint.

He told law enforcement he had traveled from California to kill “a specific United States Supreme Court Justice,” according to an FBI affidavit filed Wednesday. The affidavit said Roske was upset about the leak of the Supreme Court opinion related to abortion rights, an upcoming gun control case and the school shooting last month in Uvalde, Texas.

“Roske indicated that he believed the Justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws,” the FBI agent wrote. “Roske stated that he began thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice” after breaking into his home. Roske planned to kill himself as well, the affidavit added.
Fox News wrote:The armed California man arrested near the Maryland home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh Wednesday morning has been identified as Nicholas John Roske, law enforcement sources tell Fox News.

Roske of Simi Valley, California, was carrying a gun, knife and pepper spray when arrested and had made violent threats against Kavanaugh, sources said. Roske was picked up on a nearby street after calling police on 911 to report himself.

A criminal complaint obtained by Fox News shows that Roske is being charged with attempting to murder a United States Supreme Court Justice. He is scheduled to have a first appearance in federal court in Maryland Wednesday afternoon.

He told officers that he wanted "to give his life purpose" and purchased the gun and other items for the purpose of breaking into Kavanaugh’s home and killing the justice and then himself. Roske admitted in a second interview with the FBI of his intent to kill Kavanaugh and himself, according to an affidavit in support of the criminal complaint.

The very first line of the CNN story names Justice Kavanaugh. The CNN story directly quotes the FBI agent's report. You can tell because the words are in quotation marks. The Fox story paraphrases the language that CNN directly quotes. As a matter of pure journalism, I prefer the direct quote to a paraphrase.

Does either story link to the criminal complaint so that readers can glean any details or additional information they might deem relevant? --Bob

CNN trusts that their readers can remember the name of Brett Kavanaugh from one paragraph to the next. Fox News knows its audience has to be constantly reminded of basic details.

Simi Valley is a hotbed of right-wingers. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is there. That must be a false-flag operation.

"Must be" is a clear overstatement. Even though Simi Valley is generally conservative, it's not monolithic, and it only takes one nutcase who's not conservative.

It seems to me to make sense to include the request for additional Supreme Court security into the gun legislation Congress is currently working on. If we're willing to work fast to protect Supreme Court Justices from an imminent threat, we should be willing to work at least as fast to protect our children. --Bob

Will there be a House Committee investigating Schumer for 'insurrection' and inciting violence?

Any action relating to 'Ruth Sent Us' doxxing the conservative justices home addresses? No, just the current administration and the usual 'celebrities' supporting and applauding their right to 'protest'.

Will there be anything done addressing this? OF COURSE NOT.

Domestic terrorist group Jane's Revenge attacks several Pro Life organizations and churches throughout the US. Oh, wait. They are not a domestic terrorist group. Parents who raise their voices at School Board meetings are the real domestic terrorists. Right, Merrick?

Meanwhile, more than a month has gone by and still there is no word on who it was that leaked the opinion on Roe v Wade. Why is that? Are they that incompetent? Or is it something else?

I would go along with predictions I've heard that we are going to have ANOTHER summer of left-wing violence and insurrection, that will be glossed over by the MSM and democrats.

Yeah, and BJ thinks it is a false flag. But don't worry. We have the Jan 6th propaganda show (no opposing viewpoints allowed) to distract us from all this shit.

I'm not aware that the police aren't investigating "Jane's Revenge." The FBI isn't usually in a position of telling the public which groups are under investigation until there are actual arrests in a case.

But if you try to sweep what happened on January 6 under the rug and ignore what went on and claim that a bit of hyperbole from Chuck Schumer equals all this, then you're just fixated on that same right-wing circle of lies and false equivalencies.
