Queen's Jubilee: please 'splain me this

Today, June 2, 2022 is the 69th anniversary of QEII's coronation (June 2, 1953). So is a Jubilee celebrated to mark the beginning of her 70th year on the throne?
Given that she became Queen in February 1952 upon the death of George VI, she has already ruled for 71 years, 4 months. Is it considered morbid to celebrate on the date of the death of your predecessor?
So I guess I'm asking, why is this date chosen?

It's the start of the Queen's birthday celebration which ends on June 11.
Now the question is why is that the Queen's birthday since she was born on April 21?
She's my 18th cousin.

Take another look at the arithmetic. She's ruled for 70 years, 4 months. --Bob

You're correct. But I'm still asking just what is being celebrated. Is it her ascension to the throne (February 1952) or her coronation (on this date 69 years ago)?

Ascension to the throne. Coronation was moved due to British weather, and having to organize the ceremony. She was Queen from the moment her father passed.

The numbers being off like that are proof that the coronation was rigged.
((Sorry, just couldn't help myself, seems to be the thing to do to threads here these days)))

No, she hired an assassin to kill her father while conveniently out of the country.
