RIP Fred Ward

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Fri May 13, 2022 9:26 am

Actor best known for playing Gus Grissom in The Right Stuff and Kevin Bacon's buddy in Tremors. Ward specialized in playing likable lunkheads, although he also played Henry Miller in the NC-17 rated Henry & June.

Interestingly, Ward is the first actor playing one of the Mercury Seven astronauts in The Right Stuff who has died, although all the astronauts themselves are now gone. (Sam Shepard, who played Chuck Yeager, in the film died a couple of years ago.)

Chuck outlived Sam.

Found this from Silkwood. One of my favorite jokes, which I've told many times. I'm pretty surprised that I actually tell it pretty much word-for-word all these years later. Didn't remember the context of why he was telling a joke in the middle of a movie until now.

Y'all should check it out.

Shoot. I really liked Fred Ward. Tremors was my favorite, and I'm a big fan of Tremors 2: Aftershocks also.

I like Sweet Home Alabama too.
