OK, maybe not boring, but it is a change of pace.

This casting notice is for the revival of "Match Game". This section indicates they want regular folks, but unfortunately the age cap is still MAWG-unfriendly
You must be in between 24 to 40
must be available at least two of these days July 14,15th,16th,17th,18th,19th
you must live in or close to LA

We are not looking for actors, comics singers, dancers or performers we are looking for real people that have real jobs
such as bank tellers, plumbers, lawyers, teachers, police officers, fire fighters, home makers, bus drivers, accountants, hair dressers etc. (you get the picture) with low key personalities. If you are the life of the party everywhere you go this show is NOT for you.
I guess they are being faithful to the original, where the "star" panelists will be the life of the party, and the boring contestants are merely a device for getting those double-entendres out there.

Wasn't the whole point of "Match Game" in the '70s for contestants to give wild answers and not to be low-key?

In other words, if you watched the original Match Game in first run, don't bother applying.

If you watched reruns on GSN and had to ask your parents who those people holding up the cards were, come on down!

Will they have Gary Burghoff, Fannie Flagg and Richard Dawson again?
[Trivia side note: in looking up Fannie Flagg on Wikipedia to make sure she was still around, I noted her real name - Patricia Neal]

One recurring feature of the 70's Match Game was the contestants' consistent inability to come up with a funny answer. Gene Rayburn was always finding gentle ways to say, "You won't get a match with that. Were you listening?"

By the way, I'm old enough to remember the original Match Game, filmed in New York, in black and white, in the 60's, which was more of a parlor-panel show than the free-for-all later incarnation.

The age cap doesn't bother me. :)

If I gave a damn about Match Game, I'd get out a pointy stick for that response...
