Holy Moly Sheepy Woolly
So Jeff scheduled our dryer vent to be reamed out as a surprise favor to me. Laundry room has always been dusty and I periodically stew about dryer elements yada.
So a friend's dryer caught on fire yada. So called his guys.
So. It's a roof vent. Our roof and neighbor's yard looks like a sheep farm after shearing.
Don't think anyone ever has cleaned the vent out. Yipes.

Re: Holy Moly Sheepy Woolly
I bought a house recently and the dryer stopped drying. I tracked the dryer vent and it goes at least 20 feet up and over exits way up on the side of the house. We call a ventilation cleaner. They end up pulling 8 bags of lint out. It was completely full. The cleaning guy was amazed. I am pretty sure it had not been cleaned since it was built 11 year before. It was like storing gasoline in the dryer vent. Dodged a bullet on that one.
Suitguy is not bitter.
feels he represents the many educated and rational onlookers who believe that the hysterical denouncement of lay scepticism is both unwarranted and counter-productive
The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

Mine just goes a few feet to an outside window, but every so often an outside kitten gets in there which means the dryer vents get cleaned every so often when Mrs Spock notices the smell.
