According to the story in Uly's link, we're above average with wedding costs. I suppose I can look at it as helping the economy. Lord knows that's where our tax "rebate" will go. All I know is that we've had no problem with booking the wedding date for all our vendors. The date itself was a week off from our ideal choice. Close enough. I've read where local photographers are claiming their business to be down as much as 60%. Ours does more than just weddings, so they're probably okay in that regard. They only do about a dozen weddings per year, in fact. Lots of other areas of interest.

FSIL made it at least as far as Vegas last night, anyway. The plane actually got in a little early. He was driving back to base from there. We're still a bit fried after the literal heavy lifting all weekend. He's probably not much better.

Now to serious wedding shower planning. I think tonight is the invitation addressing party. It had better be soon. The shindig is the end of next month. I will leave the house for the day, else I drown in estrogen.

The photographer's wedding work is very nice. But 12 weddings a year? That's about what I've averaged over the past 25 years. This is not a criticism. His body of work is impressive. I'm sure your family will be pleased with the results. I'm looking forward to at least one photo posted on the bored.

Several of the photogs we spoke with did weddings almost exclusively. My admittedly faulty memory says one claimed to do something like 200 a year.

Yup, I'll take quality over quantity. The photographers who do those 200 cannot do them all personally. You will get personal service and great photos. Of course the most important thing is that your wife and daughter are comfortable with him.

Exactly so on all counts. We've heard stories of friends and relatives signing on with a photographer and having a total stranger show up for the actual wedding. These folks are a "preferred vendor" for the venue, live and work less than a mile from it, and by all accounts are well worth the price. We also get the photos on CD and all rights to use them.

FSIL also got along well with them during the engagement photo shoot. BD and he only get one shot at a beautiful wedding album. Let's make it a good one.
