Billy Joel Biopic Greenlit Without The Rights To Billy Joel’s Likeness, Name, Or Music
A Billy Joel biopic — Piano Man — has been greenlit by Michael Jai White’s Jaigantic Studios, with Adam Ripp on board to write and direct. The catch? According to Variety, Joel is not involved in the project and will not grant rights to his name, likeness, life story, or music.

Because it worked so well for the no-rights Hendrix and Bowie biopics...
Well, I don't think he can keep his life story from the script, nor name, nor likeness, as he is a public figure. Bob#'s would be the best to weigh in on that. But even if they could use all three, with none of BJs music, who'd want to see it?

One of the sons of one of my NTN teammates from Long Island was chosen by Billy Joel to portray him in a touring company that was a musical biography of his life about 15 years ago. IIRC, it was called Piano Man.
(That may be the longest sentence I've ever written!)
