Trump defends praise of Putin in days since Russian troops invaded Ukraine
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Former President Donald Trump defended his praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday while also calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky "a brave man" amid Russia's deadly invasion of his country.
"He's a brave man, he's hanging in," Trump said of Zelensky in remarks at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, even as he declined to back away from complimenting Putin as "smart."
"The problem is not that Putin is smart, which, of course, he's smart," Trump said. "The problem is that our leaders are dumb... and so far, allowed him to get away with this travesty and assault on humanity."
"Putin is playing [President Joe] Biden like a drum and it's not a pretty thing to watch," he continued.
The former President has repeatedly praised Putin in the days since Russian troops crossed into Ukraine and began launching rocket strikes against the country's capital of Kyiv. His comments on Zelensky come days after he lavished praise on Putin, calling the Kremlin leader "genius" and "savvy" in a radio interview. Those remarks were the latest of many instances where the 45th President has approved of, or admired, authoritarian rulers. In addition to Putin, Trump has previously made positive comments about North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"Putin is playing [President Joe] Biden like a drum and it's not a pretty thing to watch," he continued.
He's played Biden so well that his army is getting torn to shreds and his economy is in big trouble. There's already a big run on the banks for dollars and that's before the markets open tomorrow. NATO is more unified than ever with Sweden and Finland making noises to join. Oh, and there are demonstrations in every major city in Russia.
Trump is right about one thing. It's not pretty to watch for Putin and for those in the US like Trump who have had their lips glued to Putin's glutes for the last five years.

“I’ve said we need to build more gallows. If we try some of these high-level criminals, convict them and use a newly built set of gallows, it’ll make an example of these traitors who have betrayed our country,” Sen. Wendy Rogers, R-Flagstaff, said Feb. 25 in her speech to the white nationalist America First Political Action Conference in Florida.
Rogers told the white nationalists who were assembled in the ballroom at the Orlando World Center Marriott that they were “patriots.”
She addressed the AFPAC crowd remotely, speaking from Arizona, where she said she was busy pushing legislation. Rogers effusively praised Nick Fuentes, the event’s racist organizer, who she said had been “de-platformed everywhere” because he says things that upset “the media and the far left.”
“I truly respect Nick because he’s the most persecuted man in America,” she said to loud cheers, adding later that he was “standing up to tyranny” by creating AFPAC.
Fuentes, an advocate of turning America into a nation only for white Christians, is one of the leaders of the so-called “groyper” movement — along with the founder of American Identity Movement, a white nationalist group formerly known as Identity Ervopa — and Rogers is one of its emerging icons. The groyper movement is a collection of white nationalists who seek to normalize racism and make it a part of mainstream conservative political ideology.

Here's a priceless clip from one week ago, the night the Russians launched their attack, when Donald Trump called up Laura Ingraham's show. In about one minute, we get to hear:
1) Laura Ingraham says "We had a really pathetic display from the Ukrainian president Zelensky earlier today where he... in Russian was essentially imploring Vladimir Putin not to invade his country. Now we basically have the Ukrainian ambassador to the United Nations looking like a defeated man.
2) Trump then mentions the "amphibious attack" by Americans and Laura shouldn't know about that because U.S. forces should be doing that secretly.
3) Ingraham then had to correct him that it was the Russians who attacked. Trump: "I thought you said we were sending people."
Trump has a very keen grasp on current events. As for Ingraham, I wonder what she thinks of the "pathetic" President Zelensky now. People don't have to pass around bullshit stories. Trump gives them plenty of 100% Grade A prime moronics.

Three Republicans today voted against a House resolution expressing support for Ukraine. The resolution passed 426-3. One of the opponents was Matt Rosendale of Montana. T-girl must be so proud of the man she supported to represent Montana in the House of Representatives. --Bob
