The Daesh leader (full name: Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi) died early Thursday during a U.S. special forces raid in Syria.

Hajji Abdullah was responsible for the oppression of the Yazidi people in Iraq in 2014. Since the defeat of Daesh and the death of al-Baghdadi, Hajji Abdullah carried out numerous attacks; the latest was a jailbreak in Syria last month.

Hajji Abdullah detonated a suicide vest, also killing several family members.

IS says leader Abu al-Hassan al-Qurayshi killed in battle

Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurayshi was named as the group’s new leader.

None of the al-Qurayshis are believed to be related. Al-Qurayshi is not their real name but comes from Quraish, the name of the tribe to which Islam’s Prophet Muhammad belonged. IS claims its leaders hail from this tribe and “al-Qurayshi” serves as part of an IS leader’s nom de guerre.

Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurayshi was killed Saturday in a Turkish raid in Syria, President Erdoğan announced.

Also, in April, U.S. forces neutralised two high-ranking Daesh terrorists, Khalid Aydd Ahmad al-Jabouri and Abd-al Hadi Mahmud al-Haji Ali.

Finally, the Pentagon announced that the terrorist responsible for the Kabul airport attack in August 2021 that killed 13 U.S. troops and 170 Afghans died last week. Ironically, he was shot in a battle between Daesh and Afghan government (Taliban) forces.

Supposedly these are all different men with similar names, along the lines of Chuck Barris and Chuck Berry, or Aaron Carter and Ashton Carter. That’s not a certainty though. And it’s hard to verify that they’re really dead.
