Hey! You can have some fun too! Sorry. I'm just happy no pipes need replacing. But, we did have a pipe splode in our bath 2 years ago at 10 pm and flood stuff. It was not good.
So. Good to replace

Lucked out that when my Dad owned this house, he replaced the big ole hot water tank with two space saver tanks, and switched out much of the Poly b at that time, but the main water from the city is the Poly b and about half of the other pipes. At least all the sinks etc have copper pipes, so no drywall drama, and there is lots of room to move in the crawl. Getting second estimate tomorrow.
Insurance is giving us a grace year at the old rate, but must be done for next time. (Big brother owns the company lol)

Go with Pex for the plumbing replacement.

Did you have a leak or something? Why is insurance involved?

Policy renewal. BC had some of the biggest flooding in history in November, like we are talking major losses. The Poly B pipe can degrade form heat and chlorine over time and most insurers won’t cover sewer backup or flood damage if you have it. We could get coverage, but the deductible would have been 25,000. Due to my “negotiation skills “ (nepotism), our new deductible is 5,000 for this year, but must get the pipes replaced.
I didn’t have any flooding, but insurance is being preemptive.
