We were told tomorrow we start on reno. Were gonna get timeline of what do we put away yada.

Nada.

I sent him a whassup. Do I need to worry? Plus 3500 lbs of flooring will be arriving. How much space does 100 boxes take up?

If it's been more than a few days since they told you that they'd be starting tomorrow, I'd be calling them just to make sure that it's still on. More so if they said they'd be giving you a list of things to do first. It's very common to have a delayed start - bad weather or a previous project that took longer to finish out are common reasons. Or maybe the whole crew is hung over from New Years? We usually set things up with a ballpark start day, then when we are about a week out and know our schedule better we give a "looks like we are good for ....." call. Then confirm the day before that we are still on. But realistically, much more typical for things to be delayed vs starting early.

If it's typical floating or laminate flooring, they'll be two skids, each about 4' long, 3' wide and about 2' tall.

Enjoy! (Or tear your hair out while screaming in frustration, either works)

Yay actual humans. Our floor delivery dates, texts, have morphed between 2 days ago to next week. Within hours. So called the W Houston terminal and talked to a person. Iris! She scheduled it for tomorrow rather than waiting for 3rd party residential carrier. Iris rocks!

Probably grossed out one of our main worker guys. Water is off for shower plumbing work. J had to take massive dump. Guy went into bath, told him water off, use a bush...
I mean earlier J went to Kroger.

The noise. The dust is brutal. Not complaining. Well, whinging. They are just going after it but with the freezing temps I'm hoping the heater doesn't vomit...
Kept it low during the day.

We have tried just about every possible way to avoid the dust - Covering everything, fans ducted outside from the main work areas, series of fans to get the dust outside, vacs hooked up to power tools etc. Every bit helps but it's impossible to keep the dust from getting everywhere.

Hang in there.

So. We are blessed to be able to do what we're doing. So I have no right to whing about the stress etc.
But holy fucking crap. Campers are us.

They really are zipping along. Month into it. Painting now. Tues they spray kitchen cabs, drape it, yada. The oil base enamel is killer. May do a hotel for one night.

We have concrete floors, one toilet, you know the drill. No stove.

Hard thing is at nite if ya gotta pee there are no nightlites, shoes needed, don't touch walls.

Anyway, thanks for listening. Nothing in the grand scheme of things, right?

Remember a while back when I said that somewhere in the project our homeowners will hate us.

Yup, you could be getting there.

It's hard. Really hard. It's your space. A space that really defines your life. Only now it's not your space, it's just not ... right. The good remodelers understand this, work around it and try to make things as easy on you as they can. It will end.

If it is possible for you to take a 'mini vacation", even if it's staying somewhere local it will be good for all. Give yourself a break and consider it a vacation. Tell your contractor that you'll be out of the house for three days. Good for you, good for them as they can really push through during those days. If you can do that, good for all and I'd highly recommend it.

Hang in there baby, the end of the project is coming!

Our contractor is a great guy.
The draoed kitchen isn't emitting as much gross smell as I expected. Yay!

A mini vacation wouldn't be conducive. We're moving crap incrementally, so, you know. Plus, driving to and fro and Merv. It's a smaller space than we had before.

Thanks for being my therapist! I mean it.

Make it wine and I'm this close...
Eh. No. You probably have bedbugs. Tho I could sedate them with residual oil based enamel fumes.

Still. No.
