AFI Announces Ten Best Lists

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Wed Dec 08, 2021 2:08 pm

The American Film Institute has announced its list of the ten best films and TV series of the year. It's interesting to note that of the films, six were either streaming features or movies that premiered on streaming services the same day as theaters:

Films:

CODA
Don't Look Up
Dune
King Richard
Licorice Pizza
The Power of the Dog
tick ... tick... Boom
The Tragedy of Macbeth
West Side Story

TV:

Hacks
Maid
Mare of Easttown
Reservation Dogs
Schmigadoon
Succession
Ted Lasso
The Underground Railroad
Wandavision
The White Lotus

In addition, the AFI announced it was giving special awards to Belfast, The Squid Game, and Summer of Soul, which did not meet their eligibility requirements because they were not considered American film or TV.

I totally agree with Coda and Tick Tick. . . Boom. Incredible movies that I have enjoyed with multiple viewings.

We already know that I completely disagree with Dune.

I will see a few of the others streaming in December.

I would put Shang Chi in my top ten.

Lastly,
Ted Lasso (and soccer) is life!
