Hi Guys!

Hi. My name is Kerry. In my efforts to find others who have been through the audition process, I discovered this board, sorry--bored. And although I haven't had the chance to go through the many, mant posts, I've read enough to know you guys are truly experts, and was hoping someone might be kind enough to offer some advice. Today was a very sad day, as we (my fiance and I) received 3 sloppily hand-written postcards of rejection. Compared to last year's interview w/ Jennifer--this year's did not go nearly as well. It was obvious that our interviewer--who never even told us her name--was so disinterested in us. We have another audition scheduled for May 27th. Assuming we pass the test again, do you think they would notice if we gave totally different answers than the ones we've given previously? Each time we were questioned as to why we are not yet married, I answered with--"well, actually we've decided to wait until we have the opportunity to sit in the hotseat, before setting a date". While I naively thought that could work in our favor, I'm guessing that may have scared them off? It's so difficult to know exactly what they are looking for. We were genuinely enthusiastic. We didn't hesitate with any questions, and answered in an honest and articulate manner. If anyone has any insight or pointers to offer, I would be most grateful. Btw, has anyone here ever tried out as a couple?

Welcome, Kerry! I guess you've been reading enough to know that we sometimes use cute mispellings for things, like our home, the Bored.
Sorry about getting the rejection postcards. (Join the club!) Odd that they sent you hand-written ones; they're usually preprinted. Maybe they haven't gotten a new supply from the printers yet? Whatever, it's still better getting any kind of postcard at all; there have been times when the procedure was to not send anything to the rejected, so we'd have to wait by our mailboxes until all hope slowly died.
I think the general advice here would be to use totally new answers, if a previous interview doen't work. Don't worry about them noticing that the answers are different, as long as you're not changing an answer that would make something seem like an outright lie.
You'd think that diehard fans of the show would be appreciated, but that doesn't seem to be the case. If someone in the Hot Seat mentions that they're a fan, it always seems to be an afterthought to all the other exciting things they have going on in their lives. So work on a better answer for that one.
I think one of our members, vetgirl, auditioned for the couples edition with her boyfriend a couple seasons ago, but they weren't selected.

Thanks for the welcomes! Christie--I see that we're "neighbors". I'm in Stratford. Bob--we auditioned on 4/30 at 5pm. Marley--thank-you for your advice. I think we'll tweak our answers a bit. I should have clarified, it was our names and addresses which were hand-written on the front of the postcards. I'm pretty sure they were type-written last year, but I could be wrong. You know, I was fairly certain we would not get into the pool, given how our interview went, but I didn't think I would be this disappointed. As I continue to read on here, I see that some of you have tried out SO MANY times with-out making it into the pool. I admire your persistence and plan to follow suit. If things do not go well for us on the 27th, as soon as tapings begin, I'll request tickets. I've never been to a taping of the show, will they also ask if there are any couples taking the test? Thank-You.

Oh, the hand-written addresses are normal.
I wonder if any of the APs are old enough to remember using an actual typewriter?
If you take the audition test during a taping, they should still be asking if anyone there as a couple, at least until they're done taping that theme week. (I have no idea when they'll schedule that.)

I wonder if it was the wedding edition you were trying out for. Good luck next time around, I'd think your odds would be a little better with the wedding/couples edition.

Yes jacorbett, we've been auditioning for the wedding edition. I was hoping it might increase our chances because when you audition as part of a couple, they will consider each of you as an individual contestant as well, hence the 3 postcards. I'm starting to wonder if perhaps we're just not what they're looking for in a couple? We're probably 10-15 years older than most of the couples we've seen on the show, although we both look freakishly young for our ages. We may not be considered "typical" or "traditional", but then again, in watching the repeats this week of last year's couples, there were 2 couples who also probably wouldn't be considered 'traditional". It's truly a mystery.
