RIP Don Everly

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Sun Aug 22, 2021 9:30 am

Remaining half of the singing duo, The Everly Brothers. Younger brother Phil died in 2014.

This is an example of the sideways variation of the Curse of the Tangredi, as Phil appeared in Frank's current puzzle. Since Phil was beyond the reach of the curse, poor Don paid the price.

Those harmonies will sound even sweeter in Heaven.

The last member of the first class of Rock Hall of Fame inductees still kickin' is.....

Jerry Lee Lewis.

Who would've wagered on him? He belongs in the Keith Richards "How in the hell is he still alive" club.

This takes me back even farther than Tom T. Hall, all the way back to junior high.

BFFs Rose and Rose were crazy about the Everly Brothers and would inflict this passion on anyone who would listen . . . or see. Don and Phil were plastered all over their notebooks and lockers. Somehow they missed Beatlemania, which afflicted the rest of us.

I liked Wake Up, Little Susie because it was the most fun to sing along with -- "The movie wasn't so hot, It didn't have much of a plot, we fell asleep, our goose is cooked, our reputation is SHOT!!!"
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller
