I bought my first (and, to date, only) new car. A rose quartz 1988 Mercury Cougar.

When I was on the test drive, Instant Karma came on the radio. That, combined with it being ILHD, cinched the deal.

Do I miss that car? Not really.

Do I miss the 1973 Ford LTD with the 460 big block V8, low suspension shocks, 4 barrel Holley and chrome extension glass packs that I traded in for it? Oh, yeah....

My first car was a 1968 Cougar which I totaled. I then bought a 1971 Cougar followed by a 1974 one. I traded that in for an E150 camping van. I've bought only Ford autos.

1970 Chevy Malibu
1980 Mercury Cougar
1987 Chevy S10 Blazer (only new car)
1997 Chevy Lumina
2003 Toyota Corolla

We now split usage between that Corolla and a 2015 Corolla that Mrs. SSS bought new.

Is that because you're still driving it? --Bob

Nah, once I got Mary Jean in 2001 (she was from a fleet auction, so no trade in), it became kind of an auxiliary vehicle for the family. In 2006 or 2007, my brother needed to get back to Nebraska and didn't have transportation (long story) so he took the Cougar to get home. Rather than trying to get it back here, he just sold it out there.
