The Cleveland Indians have become the Cleveland Guardians

Known as the Indians since 1915, Cleveland's Major League Baseball team will next be called the Guardians.

The ballclub announced the name change Friday with a video on Twitter narrated by actor Tom Hanks, ending months of internal discussions triggered by a national reckoning by institutions and teams to permanently drop logos and names considered racist.

I'll pick this nit. Since the name change won't take effect until the end of the season, I think a more accurate headline will say that the Indians "will become" the Guardians. --Bob

When I worked in Boise, my employer paid a considerable amount of money to a company to come up with two of those high-tech-sounding names for our two divisions. When I saw them, I immediately noticed that one was the same as another software company. When I searched for the other (pre-Google) I found another software company with a very similar name. The owner abandoned his quest.
