My daughter Janneke is donating a kidney today to someone she has never met. If you are a believer, please send some prayers her way. If you are not, some kind thoughts would be nice. To learn more:

Best wishes and prayers for your daughter and the donee. This would be a marvelously selfless act under any circumstances, let alone what your daughter has gone through.

Are there any protocols regarding organ donations (or even things like blood donations) from recovered Covid victims?

I used to be on the donor list, but now I'm too old. Probably most of us here are.

UPDATE: Janneke came out of the surgery fine. She is in some pain (obviously) and will be in the hospital at least until tomorrow. But she is awake and doing well. No word yet on the recipient.

Yay, Janneke!

I tried to get on the donor list via the national website, but as soon as I entered my age, it told me to get lost.

One of my young friends donated to a person he'd never met while he was in the Navy. They flew him to the hospital versus an eight hour drive. They also flew his father from Colorado, all expenses paid, to support him so his wife could stay with the kids.

What a great thing to do. Yay, Janneke!
