Former governor of Louisiana who subsequently served eight years in federal prison after being convicted of various racketeering charges. Ironically, in his best-known election victory, he defeated KKK leader David Duke for governor in 1991, after urging voters to "vote for the crook." After his release from prison, the then-83-year-old Edwards married a woman 50 years younger than him. Among his more notable accomplishments in office were bringing about the open primary election system still in use in Louisiana and introducing casino gambling to the state.
Age 93.

He's a RIP.
