Another one bites the dust

Another publisher, that is. INtense Publications, the Texas-based publisher of The Dragon’s Song and presumed to be publisher of my next series, is closing in thirty days. Jana the publisher has had health issues and can’t continue with the day to day activities anymore.

She has agreed to provide the authors with all files so we can self publish our work on Ingram or Amazon. My new series is not affected too badly since it was never copyrighted or published. I’m free to take this series anywhere I want.

As before, I’ll get through this and so will my books. Dragon is an important book and I want it available to readers, so self pubbing might be the way to go. I feel bad for coauthor Binh, whose first publishing foray ends like this.

I can’t blame Lizzie for this one.

As always, I thank you for your continued support.

It's a crummy industry. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that. Do you own the copyrights to your back titles?

I just looked at their website, and they've got about 20 authors listed. You might try reaching out to them to see if they have any leads about other publishers if you don't try to go it yourself.

I own the copyrights to all my books.

I'm a real pro at getting my manuscript to publishers. I have a good-sized list of those who accept unagented material. Getting one to bite is typically the issue.

My fellow authors and I will figure something out.

I know the owner of this publisher (we used to play trivia on the same team). They specialize in "new age" sort of books, but who knows?

Not my genre:

Square One Publishers specializes in adult nonfiction books.

Did I misunderstand? I thought The Dragon’s Song was nonfiction.

It is a novel based on true events. Only Binh and his family are real characters, all others fictitious.

Another publisher, Young Dragons Press, has offered to re-publish The Dragon's Song. We haven't been shown a contract, yet, but we did send them the manuscript. It's too soon to tell if they are going to want my magician series. Baby steps.

The Dragon's Song would seem to be a natural fit for Young Dragons Press.

This publisher eventually declined to re-publish our book.

But wait,...
