Miscellaneous thoughts:
So now we know how Jack learns the truth about Claire.
I still can't imagine how the Oceanic Six manage to be the ones rescued, when they're scattered all over the island--and the boat--at this moment.
At least one reporters was capable of doing some thinking about "Kate's baby". Odd that a Coast Guard plane brings them back (to "a base west of Honolulu, very isolated" -- meaning Pearl Harbor???) but the Oceanic publicity people are still running the show.
Who planted those explosives on board the boat? Weren't the mercs planning on using that to get back to the world?

Sun tells her father that she has managed to buy a controlling interest in his company out of the crash settlement. She might have gotten a decent chunk of change from the airline and its insurers, but there is no way she could get enough to buy a controlling interest in a major corporation. Of course, one person who does have that kind of money is Widmore, and Sun might have hit him up to get the funds.
It seems to me that the producers are hinting that The Six get out in the season finale. Now, it's possible that Jack, Kate and Hurley can get a ride back with the helicopter pilot next week (perhaps Sawyer stays behind to fend off the mercenaries). Sun, Sayeed and the baby are already on the ship with a couple of disposable socks and Jin (who may meet his demise trying to dismantle the bomb or something like that). Since Desmond officially doesn't exist, he blends in with the crew.
That would mean that the last two seasons are devoted to trying to find where the island has moved to. Could the person who died at the end of last season (and Jack went to his funeral) be the helicopter pilot?

Actually the plane said Barber's Point. Which would make sense.
Sort of in the middle of sugar cane and pineapple fields.

Barber's Point was initially a Naval Air Station but has now been closed. The Coast Guard was a tenant there when the Navy still operated it and I believe they have remained after the Navy left. That explains the fact that the C-130 still said Barbers Point on it and may also explain why the area looked a little ratty and run down. It is west of Pearl almost on the southwest corner of Oahu and is in the middle of what is now becoming a hot residential area on the dry side of the island near Ewa beach. And I do mean hot as that is the dry toasty side of the island.
Can't believe the rest of the next two years will deal primarily with off island activities although I agree the previews did seem to suggest that some element of the "rescue" will be part of the finale.
Of course timelines mean little on this show and it seems clear they are putting increasing emphasis on some sort of post island show down.
The location off of Indonesia still makes little sense. Unless that is where the island "moves" to.

The producers said that we will find out by the last episode of thisseason how they get off the island, what happens to those left behind, and who is in the coffin.
For season 5, the focus will be on
The quest to get back to the island
For season 6 the last, the focus will be on
What happens when they do get back.

I think the location off Indonesia was because of Widmore's planting of the plane. That had made international news, so the rescue had to fit in with that charade. Now, why Oceanic went along with it is beyond me.

That is certainly a lot of detail for this show in a 2 hour finale! A little leary about how they can fill an entire season on the quest to return but maybe they can pull it off.

Maybe Widmore bought out Oceanic, the way that Sun made that unlikely takeover of her father's company? Or maybe Widmore has owned it all along?
But, yeah, I'd expect that one reporter who questioned Kate about Aaron might also have brought up the issue of going thousands of miles in the wrong direction!

Now that we clearly have been shown that Kate is passing Aaron off as her own baby (not "Claire's which she saved", as I thought from the initial flashforward episode), don't you think suspicious reporters (they're already suspicious; "you were 6-1/2 months pregnant when you were arrested in Australia?") could collect a little Kate hair, a little baby spit, & prove they're not even related?
