We use Libby, which is good for currentish books.

Not so much for classics. Had to buy The Time Machine, which is boring third time around.

Had to buy The Naked and the Dead, Mailer. It's not that.old......

Two words: Digital e-books.

Most libraries have e-book sections available and/or participate in services like Hoopla, which can get you access to a large digital library. The Time Machine is in the public domain, and free digital copies of it are readily available through a lot of services. I checked my own library and they don't have a digital copy of The Naked and the Dead, but they do have it in paperback and hardback. I know that older books like The Naked and the Dead usually list at a higher price but go on sale a lot for $1.99 or $2.99.

Libby is our library's digital section. Pretty much all I read anymore is on my kindle. I need to check out kindle's free stuff if I'm going to do a rereading phase.

I've been using OverDrive for e-audiobooks I borrow from my library. The library has been recommending Libby, but reading the description of the app, I don't see what's really new or different for it. I don't need special features in the app, just play it when I want and pause it when I want.

Is there anything good or bad you want to say about using Libby?

They've made it harder or less straightforward. Used to you could search, read sample, etc and get back to the main page easily. Now they've jacked with it. I need to check out overdrive. Back in the day it was obnoxious.

My bad, I had never heard of Libby and thought it was your nickname for your library.

The services I use through the library are Hoopla and Kanopy. Hoopla has movies, music, and e-books available, while Kanopy is films only. Both of them have a fairly extensive movie section that's a good alternative to Netflix or Hulu if you don't subscribe. The e-book selection on Hoopla is fairly extensive. Both of them allow you ten borrows a month.
