I had a personal connection with Bailey of sorts. When I was in high school, Bailey represented a Sarasota physician, Carl Coppolino, who was accused of murdering his first wife and a neighbor in New Jersey. The New Jersey trial was held first and Bailey got Coppolino acquitted. However, he was convicted of the murder of his wife in Sarasota, where they had moved. Coppolino injected his wife with a poison that the original autopsy missed, and they only found the puncture mark in her buttocks when they exhumed her body.

Before his Florida trial, Coppolino had remarried a divorcee who was a classmate of mine in high school. The trial made big news every day for several weeks and Clare (the daughter) had to testify. As I recall, she held up pretty well while all this was going on. Coppolino was convicted and got a life sentence but was paroled after 12 years.
