The Queen’s Gambit

My wife and I recently finished The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix and we both thought it was excellent. I wasn’t sure how a series about the world of chess would play out, but this was a well written, well acted seven episode series.
The main character is Beth Harmon, who grew up in an orphanage after the death of her mother. She learns to play chess at age nine when she visits the janitor, Mr. Shaibel. The rest of the story covers her school years and up to age twenty.
I won’t spoil it, let’s just say she is very good at chess and drinking wine.
Highly recommend.
ETA: Looks like there was a thread on this by Tbone. I should have looked.
