Not rocket science but brain surgery!

#1 Post by Beebs52 » Mon May 03, 2021 2:33 pm

Sometimes it IS brain surgery...
So back in the day, 2002, when I went through bc scans, etc, they found a mass on my brain. Benign, not cancer.

Yes I know y'all have thought I got me some rocks in my head...

Well, yes! Yes I do. Called an epidermoid tumor, left posterior fossa. Have followed up with neurosurgeon periodically, but last time was 2016. Had mri and ct venogram this last month. It's grown and is 7.4 cm × 3.3 cm × 5.8 cm.

It's pushed through, degraded the bone, so doc said figure out a time to do this, cause at some point scalp would be the only thing between mah brain parts and not mah brain parts.

Net net is I get to have a left Stealth guided craniotomy!

I'll post mri pics. It's sorta fascinating.
Well, then

Hope all goes well so you can get back to normal, i.e., your brain scan reveals nothing.

That is an impressive mass, for sure.

The good news is that technology has made this kind of surgery much more successful.

Crossing things. It would be much cooler if it weren't actually inside your head. But y'know, you get a free pass on just about anything for a while.

Geez, Beebs.

Make sure they take expert care of that beautiful ol' brain of yours.

Else the wrath of T-Bone shall be visited upon them, a wrath so terrible and epic that even Cecil B. De Mille couldn't recreate it.

Or even Beany and Cecil.

What they're doing with the noggin stuff these days is amazing. Take good care of our Beebs - we need your wack.

Unless anyone is grossed out by this I shall probably post updates on the stuff they do. It's sorta weirdly interesting. I do a stealth mri pre surgery in June which is like an hour and a half. Mris are just extended bad rap music, so used to that.

My daughter (the actress) just told me how they will repair her broken radius and humerus. I'd rather have brain surgery!

I had a broken radius in my left wrist years ago. Hurt like hell and recovery hurt like hell. Does she get a plate put in?

Plates and rods. It's just above her wrist. She acted in the film while hiding her left arm. The show must go on.

Will they let you keep it? It would make a cool paperweight.

I'm gonna ask. I also want pics of the procedure. I could make tree ornaments for Xmas.
