FSIL report

Yes, he arrived. GW heard from BD mid-afternoon. They were at a mall, getting FSIL the proper clothes for the engagement photos. Photog told them that their clothing should coordinate regarding color, texture, etc. FSIL, naturally, had nothing like that.
But he's here. For the first time in something like ten months. GW is happy about, but nowhere near as much as BD. Anything that keeps the women in my life happy is fine by me.

What is the role of the official, clothing-coordinated engagement photos? Something that is not served by the official wedding photos, I presume?

In my opinion, a uniform coordinates with everything else.

Not sure. I think BD wants to brag before the wedding and put it in the papers. Engagement photos are also much more informal than the wedding ones.
We don't have a really good photo of FSIL. Some nice ones, yes, but for some reason, we just haven't been able to get that shot where we look at it and say "that's a
really good picture of him."

Oh, right! The engagement notice in the newspaper!

Much more informal? The evidence suggests otherwise!

These photos can be used for the announcements in the paper. Sometimes they blow it up and have it matted (two to three inches) in a frame (no glass). And they might have it at the reception where guests can sign the matte. It can be used for a holiday card. Sometimes if it is done early enough, it can be used as part of the invitation.
As far as clothing goes, what is very popular here is white cotton shirts/blouses, blue denim and maybe a casual wool sweater. I usually take them at the beach. Sometimes khaki pants will do.
