Last year the Mets came within one strike of allowing me to start this thread before a blown save by Edwin Diaz left me on the sidelines. This year, they just got that strike.

The New York Mets have undisputed possession of first place in the National League East. Let's go Mets! --Bob

The Rockies are in last place in our division. It's hard work being a Rockies fan.

But the Avalanche just won, 4-3 over St. Louis.

The Rockies are 0-0 in the first against Los Angeles -- plenty of time to tank.

deGrommed again. Even with the best pitcher in baseball on the mound, you can't win if you don't score. The Mets have now fallen out of first place in the National League East. --Bob

From Twitter:

Jacob deGrom is 24-21 (.533) with a 1.99 ERA over his last 75 starts.

That is lowest win pct for any starting pitcher in any 75-game span with a sub-2.00 ERA in MLB history.

THE Kansas City Royals currently have the best record/winning percentage in Major League Baseball.

I will enjoy that fact while it lasts.

Since 2018, the best pitcher in baseball (measured by ERA) is deGrom. The ninth-best pitcher in baseball over that span (measured the same way over the same span) has been whoever is starting against deGrom. --Bob

As the division's only team that doesn't have a losing record, the ReplaceMets have now extended their lead in the National League East to a season-high two and a half games. --Bob

With the help of an all-too-rare offensive explosion (as in an explosion of offense, as opposed to, say, an explosion at a sewer plant), the Mets have extended their division lead to a season-high three and a half games. I'll be camped out in front of my television tomorrow watching The Best Pitcher In Baseball take on the Braves. I hope he continues to live up to the billing I just gave him. --Bob

A timely hit by the Polar Bear and three hits by Francisco Lindor helped the Mets extend their lead today to a season-high four and a half games in the National League East. --Bob

Once again the only team in the division that doesn’t have a losing record, the Mets have now expanded their lead in the National League East to five full games. Tomorrow, the best pitcher in baseball takes the mound for the Mets. —Bob

The ReplaceMets giveth, but the regular Mets taketh away. After today’s punchless loss, the Mets have relinquished first place for the first time in three months. —Bob
