Former NBA great with the Los Angeles Lakers who teamed with Jerry West on the great Lakers teams of the 60s that could never beat the Boston Celtics, although they beat pretty much everyone else. He holds the single-game scoring record in the NBA finals with 61 against the Celtics in 1962. Ironically, he retired early in the season in 1971, the year the Lakers finally won the championship. After his playing days, he was general manager of the Clippers for many years as well.
