RIP Mark Wilson

Groundbreaking magician who popularized the art on television when he hosted The Magic Land of Allakazam on Saturday mornings in the 1960s. He also taught Bill Bixby for his role on The Magician and other Hollywood celebrities, including Johnny Carson. Wilson also served as the magic consultant on the episode of Columbo featuring Jack Cassidy as a magician. Wilson's wife, Nani Darnell, was his assistant, and his son Greg appeared with him on some of his later specials.

I hadn't thought of him in years. I learned how to do that trick when I was about the age of the Cub Scout.

I watched that show regularly as a kid and even had one of his books. But I never got any good at magic.

Ditto. I was fascinated but could never master anything. My cousin Dennis was quite good, so I became his assistant for family parties.
