Mel Kiper Updated All-Time QB List

ESPN's Mel Kiper has released an updated all-time list of the highest-rated college quarterbacks going into the NFL draft. In this case, "all-time" means since 1979 when he started tracking this information. He updated the list to include Clemson's Trevor Lawrence:
1. John Elway 1983
2. Andrew Luck 2012
3. Peyton Manning 1998
4. Trevor Lawrence 2021
5. Jim Kelly 1983
6. Andre Ware 1990
7. Drew Bledsoe 1993
8. Ryan Leaf 1998
9. Troy Aikman 1989
10. Josh Allen 2018
Honorable mentions in no particular order (Kiper says they were all ranked very close together): Vinny Testaverde 1987; Boomer Esiason 1988; Steve Young 1984; Bernie Kosar 1985; Tim Couch 1999.
Three items of note.
1). Five of the nine quarterbacks on the list (other than Lawrence, who hasn't yet been drafted) were selected #1 overall in their year, and Leaf was selected #2 to Manning.
2) The 21st century doesn't appear to have been particularly good for top-rated quarterbacks.
3) Being on this list doesn't automatically mean outstanding pro success, as Andre Ware and Ryan Leaf demonstrate.
