Re: 57 Years Ago Today..
I was 10. My little sister was 8. She got to go to their concert in Houston. Invited by a friend who had a dad in radio.
One thing I vividly remember is that, believe it or not, there was a big debate about: Who’s better ... the Beatles or the Dave Clark five? I actually remember reading an analysis that included the point that it wasn’t really a fair comparison since there were five of them.
Those were fun times in many ways. But, not very long after the assassin of JFK, which wasn’t.

But could The Beatles take on Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods in a fashion contest?

Watching that clip and others from that show and you can see the energy and joy they exuded (even George). Maybe it's 20/20 hindsight, but you can tell that there was something special there.

Re: 57 Years Ago Today..
Yeah, in those days, anytime any new British group came along and scored a big hit record, the "Beatles dethroned and on their way out" stories would start, as the bemused and condescending "serious adult" news outlets would jump on anything that would reinforce their narrative of the fickle and transitory nature of teenage fads and trends. Hell, even the teen fan magazines would publish constant "Beatles vs. ------" debates. No one expected this group to grow creatively and mature musically in relation to its audience growing up with them. 57 years later, they are still sitting on that throne as far as their wide reaching influence on music, fashion, thought, and pop culture in general.wbtravis007 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:22 pm

Of course, none of this was in my mind when my 6 1/2 year-old self saw them on Ed's show. I just thought they looked cool and sounded even better. And I wanted to do what they were doing.

Now 58 years.
This was a seemingly annual T-Bone post, so I thought I'd bring it forward.
