Lyrically Speaking - 1/21/21

#1 Post by Evil Squirrel » Thu Jan 21, 2021 7:29 am

Hi Sprotsie Baby!!!! Oh, and everyone else too! It's everyone's favorite day of the year.... National Squirrel Appreciation Day! Can I get a YAY! from the congregation? In honor of the 20th anniversary of this most glorious of all occasions, I dug into LB's stash of squirrel photos to put together another pictorial LSWE game that I'm sure you'll enjoy! Be warned.... you'll have an irresistible desire to scritch your screen while playing this game!

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

--squirrelmama (10/3/07)

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

YAY! And here I tried to work the squirrel theme in yesterday's game....do I hear prescient points calling my name??

1. Spooky - Classics IV

These picture games are always hard to play because I can't work from the quoted reply and have to run two windows. Which I always seem to close one out at least once while trying to switch between them.

2. Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton

That last line was going through my head and making me crazy...until I happened to look at the picture and put it together. Oh... the pictures kind of emote the title!

3. Help - The Beatles

4. Roar - Katy Perry

aka Brave by Sara Barielles

5. The Tide is High - Blondie

6. Middle of the Road - Pretenders

7. Happiness is a Warm Nut - Some Fruity English Club Guy

8. Baby Love - Supremes

All together now... awwwwwwww!

9. Tight Rope - Leon Russell

You won't believe this, I was just reading Elton John's autobio and he was talking about Leon Russell GRHS (apparently EJ was a big Delaney & Bonnie fan, who knew?) and I instantly got the image of the Tight Rope album cover in my head. That used to freak me out almost as much as Goat's Head Soup BITD

10. Aqualung - Jethro Tull

11. Watch Out Princess! - Some Fruity English Club Guy

12. Lick It Up - Kiss

Some Squirrels - Rolling Stones

I was so on the lookout for some Annie Bonuses and couldn't bear the disappointment....

Spooky - Classics IV or Atlanta Rhythm Section (What, you don't carve squirrel o'lanterns every year for Halloween?)

Image
Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton (I was on my way to the car when I spotted this guy all sprawled out on one of the park's memorial bricks..)

Image
Help! - Beatles (Sometimes my Saturday Squirrel photos just write the posts themselves...)

Image
Roar - Katy Perry (My Howard Dean squirrel! I love how it looks like he's screaming his fool head off, but really, he's just clamped on to a nut...)

Image
The Tide Is High - Blondie (The color variety of squirrels in this area is lacking, so I was tickled to death to come across this blonde squirrel at the park two years ago!)

Image
Middle Of The Road - Pretenders (The worst place for squirrels to be hanging out. Fortunately, this was just a paved trail in the park...)

Image
Happy - Pharrell Williams (Easily one of my top 10 squirrel pics ever! So happy, and looking right at me...)

Image
Baby Love - Supremes (I don't even know if this little one was old enough to be out of the nest, but it's the only honest to goodness baby squirrel I've ever seen, let alone take lots of pictures of! You know you wanna see more of him! Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5)

Image
Tight Rope - Leon Russell (Autofocus will always go for the background anytime you try to take a picture of anything on a wire. This pic was no exception, but I still love the perspective in it...)

Image
Aqualung - Jethro Tull (How in the hell did this song not end up in Vandal's thread? I have a more close up picture of this squirrel on the bench, but this one fits the lyrics much better as the squirrel definitely seems to be leering at something off camera...)

Image
Fortress Around Your Heart - Sting (Ah, sweet gum tree balls! The plague of the Midwest. As I was putting this game together at literally the last minute yesterday morning, I stopped on this pic because I knew there was a song with a lyrics about walking on the mines I laid, and I knew it was a Sting song... sadly, I had to look the damn thing up. That pretty much sums up what's going on here, as the squirrel appears to be treading lightly will all those spiky balls on the ground...)

Image
Lick It Up - Kiss (Squirrel tongue!!!! Ever watch a squirrel lick up all the faux-cheese goop left over in a discarded pack of snack sticks? I have, and it was so cute!)

Image Bonus: Show me something that's just plain nuts...

I expected this one to be a doozy! Weasel set the pace early, and in the end, hung on to claim the IBB for sex without a washer...
