Colonoscopy gahhhhh
Haven't had one since 2014. I Dread Prep. No one cares about this so I'm just venting. Now all I have to drink is 64 ozs of Gatorade mixed with an 8.3 oz bottle of Miralax (14 daily doses) plus a bottle of magnesium citrate plus gallons of broth, jello, popsicles, water. Fuck this shit o'clock.
Well, then

Have you talked with your doctor about any of the at home tests?
I too, am a couple of years late for my next colonoscopy and have been conveniently 'forgetting' about it for too long now. I've got a regular Dr visit next month and am going to discuss the at-home option then. Anything to avoid the pre prep blast.

I would have been in deep trouble if I hadn't used my Millionaire winnings to pay for the co-pay for mine. I've had three more since then, and they're removed polyps each time. I'm happy there's now no co-pay, thanks to Obamacare.Beebs52 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 6:02 pmHaven't had one since 2014. I Dread Prep. No one cares about this so I'm just venting. Nah. I had polyps in the past and you'd have to do a real one eventually anyway.jaybee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 6:07 pmHave you talked with your doctor about any of the at home tests?

Re: Colonoscopy gahhhhh
I'm scheduled for mine next month, so I can relate. There are different preps. My first was the gallon of Gatorade/antifreeze. Not completely awful if it's cold. One round in the evening so I could at least get some rest.
This time it's two rounds (4 PM and 2 AM!) of 16 ounces of some stuff mixed in water chased with a quart of water in an hour. I won't get much sleep, but I'll make up for that afterwards. (I usually wake up late afternoon.)
I agree about the day of clear liquids before the prep. I get hangry on just water, Sprite, apple juice, and chicken broth. Wishing you all the best for your procedure.

In 2006 I had a high-deductible policy. Since Obamacare, not one gets charged for one.Beebs52 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 6:21 pmPolyps are me so real one it is. Re: Colonoscopy gahhhhh
My last one was in 2019 and they found some suspicious growths so they had me do a second one six months later. At that time, they removed what they said was a sizable pre-cancerous polyp.
And please be sure to follow what they say about flushing out your system. At the outpatient clinic where they performed my second one, the woman in the bed next to me was told that they couldn't finish hers because there was too much "gunk" in her system. So she probably had to reschedule and go through it a second time.

Re: Colonoscopy gahhhhh
Twice I have proved that the smaller-bottle prep just wastes their time & my stomach, so I have to beg for the 64oz deal to be 1st next time. Last time they bullshat me by saying "this small prep is better". It was a bottle of Miralax. It was not better.
Also, if you have surgery under real anesthesia they demand you have a prearranged escort out of the hospital or they won't do the procedure, but for this one they just left me gasping & full of the gas they insert into your colon in their lobby for hours.

Veni, shat, vici
19 polyps, benign tho they still send out. Gotta love the nap.
Ghost, the 64 oz gatorade with miralax was waaay better. Only gross thing was magnesium citrate before gatorade. Like chugging a bottle of straight lemon juice.
Ta Da!

On advice from a forum somewhere, for my first time a few years ago, I chose a flavor of Gatorade I was not going to want ever again. They said your body will associate it with the total experience, so you'll want a flavor you don't drink otherwise.
PS I had one polyp, so they said we will go again in five years instead of ten. 19 sounds like some kind of record.

I don't do gatorade ever so no loss. The frost flavor was actually tasty tho.

I think Frost is the one I used also. I tend toward the fruitier flavors normally, which is not often.
Of late, I have become addicted to Vitamin Water, especially the dragonfruit and the acai/blueberry. There are two orange flavors I like also. 20 ounces = 100 calories, which I can live with, and it doesn't taste metallic like Gatorade.

Re: Colonoscopy gahhhhh
This wouldn't be so great for me since I am not exactly fond of Gatorade to begin with.
Anyway, glad to see the word benign up there.
