BiT question: Is there significance in "The host of Jeopardy, Mayim Bialik!" and "Hosting Jeopardy, Ken Jennings!". Will that continue?
Reminds me of the early 1960s when Durward Kirby was "the host of Candid Camera" and Allen Funt was billed as "Mr. Candid Camera himself." Only an old geezer like me would know why.

More information for next season.

It will begin with the "Second Chance Tournament" in September which features 15 players from the past season that the producers feel deserve a second chance. One of those will be the fourth place semi-finalist in the College Championship who won his semifinal match but did not advance to the finals because only three people made it. The winner of the Second Chance Tournament will advance to the Tournament of Champions (others may also advance), which will start the following week. Both of those tournaments will be hosted by Ken Jennings. Jennings will start hosting next season and take over in January for as much as her schedule allows (her TV series will be back next season as well).

They've posted the format for the next Tournament of Champions. There will be 21 contestants, including two winners of the upcoming second chance tournament. They will start with six games featuring 18 of the contestants. The six winners will join Matt Amodeo, Mattea Roach, and Amy Schneider (who have first round byes) in the semis. The three semifinal winners will play a series of games until someone has won three games. (This is the same format used to pick the greatest of all time tournament with Jennings, Rutter, and Holzhauer.)

I hadn't heard that Jennings prefers the she/her/hers pronouns. Nor that she has a TV series. Good for her!

Jeopardy has released a partial list of the celebrity contestants for the prime-time celebrity version of the show hosted by Mayim Bialik. I would assume they would play under the same format as other celebrity game shows with two half-hour games in each episode. The named celebrities are:

Simu Liu
Constance Wu
Iliza Schlesinger
Ray Romano
Aisha Tyler
Patton Oswalt
Michael Cera
B.J. Novak
Candace Parker

I don't know who half those people are.

Ray Romano should kick ass. I saw him play at Disneyland back in the day.

That is because you are ancient.

Simu Liu -- Shang-Chi
Constance Wu -- Actress from Crazy, Rich Asians, Fresh Off the Boat, Hustlers, . . .
Iliza Schlesinger -- Hilarious stand-up comic; won Last Comic Standing
Ray Romano -- the one you knew (of course)
Aisha Tyler -- stand up comic and actress; hosted Who's Line Is It, Anyway
Patton Oswalt -- stand-up comic and beloved nerd; appeared in Agents of SHIELD, Parks & Rec, and many other things.
Michael Cera -- actor; I loved him in Scott Pilgrim vs the World
B.J. Novak -- actor from The Office. Has new movie out called Vengeance, I believe.
Candace Parker -- WNBA player (one of the best ever) and activist. Went to Tennessee for college.

Bob may have been hoping that Sean Connery would be on the show.

Update on Celebrity Jeopardy:

It debuts this Sunday on ABC at 8:00. There will be nine weekly episodes in the first season, hosted by Mayim Bialik. The first week's contestants will be Simu Liu, Ego Nwodim (from Saturday Night Live), and Andy Richter. There is a big change in the format. Each game will now have three rounds to pad the episode's running time. Single Jeopardy (100-500). Double Jeopardy (200-1000). And a new Triple Jeopardy round with three daily doubles (300-1500). The questions get progressively harder in each round. Of course, the dollar values of this new Triple Jeopardy are less than the current Double Jeopardy dollar values on the daytime show.
