Ken's last episode will be on Friday, Feb. 19. Mike Richards, J! executive producer will follow.

I remember years ago, when people would mumble about who the next host might be, Anderson Cooper's name always came up. He is probably too big now, but it will be fun to see him for a batch of shows, to see what might have been. I think his temperament is similar enough to Alex' that the show will feel the same.

Regardless of how well he has tamped down the snootiness, Ken's voice is just too high for my taste, and there is nothing he can do about that. Well, not much.
I had the same feeling about Ken's voice, initially. Either he is lowering it, or I'm getting used to it. The last week or so I've really enjoyed his hosting and he seems to be finding his style.

Is it just me or do you still expect to here "Alex Trebek" even after Johnny says "guest host"? It's like the next line in a very familiar song.

I doubt I'll watch much of Cooper. I think he's one of the biggest elitist asses in the country.

Glad they cancelled their plans to use Couric.

You're correct. I don't know where I saw she was cancelled. I previously read about all the "concern" by producers. I really thought I had seen an article about them actually cancelling her. Oh well. I won't give them any ratings point if she does host.

Jeopardy fans might want to catch last night's episode of The Conners. One of the storylines involves Jackie's (Laurie Metcalf) efforts to become a Jeopardy contestant. By the end of the show, she was told that she'd been accepted into the audition process, so this may develop further later in the season.

I was not particularly fond of Ken as host. His voice just isn't right for the gig.

I think Brad Rutter would be a superior host, but I think they will pick someone who will be just fine. My suspicion is that it might be someone who is relatively unknown.

I agree. I asked Brad if he wanted to host. When he said yes, I tried to pull a few strings. Maybe he turned it down after he got "The Chase."

I liked Katie, but I still like Ken best.

I thought ARod did a good job. He was personable, kept the game moving fairly well, and his host duties allowed for the viral moment.

We all know that almost no one out of the guest hosts actually is auditioning to replace Alex, so enjoy it for what it is — publicity for the show.

A little, I'd agree. But he didn't make every other question about him, which was nice. My fave by far (so far) is the producer guy, Mike Richards.

An Alex Trebek note.

Mrs. SSS and I saw a trailer today for Free Guy, an upcoming film with Ryan Reynolds in which he plays a video game character come to life who becomes a real world sensation. The trailer included a clip from a fictional Jeopardy episode in which Alex reads a question about Reynolds' character. It appears that this was Trebek's last cameo film appearance. The Trebek sequence starts about 1:20 into the trailer.
