You either get the strategic ramifications of them likening the Moon and Mars to islands in the East and South China Seas or you don't. I won't explain it to you.
>>>"There is one Party official who is extremely outspoken about China’s astral aspirations: Ye Peijian is a 73-year-old aerospace engineer and head of the Chinese lunar exploration program. While fielding scripted questions from a reporter at the CCP’s annual plenary sessions in Beijing last year, he left quite an impression. When asked why China is going to the moon, Ye said, “The universe is an ocean, the moon is the Diaoyu Islands, Mars is Huangyan Island. If we don't go there now even though we’re capable of doing so, then we will be blamed by our descendants. If others go there, then they will take over, and you won’t be able to go even if you want to. This is reason enough.”
Responses like Ye’s are part explainer, part propaganda, all dog whistle. The Diaoyu Islands, as China calls them, are an uninhabited 1,700 acres that are known as Senkaku in Japan, and sovereignty over these small patches of bare rock has been a flashpoint between the two nations for decades. In the same vein, Huangyan refers to Scarborough Shoal, a reef in the South China Sea that is also claimed by Taiwan and the Philippines. By invoking the names of these contested outposts, Ye delivered a crystal-clear message that left no room for misunderstanding among a domestic audience. For Ye and the CCP, going to space isn’t just a matter of scientific achievement or national pride. It’s a move to wrest control of new lands from other nations, and to write the histories of those territories before others can."<<<<<

As China has agreed to be bound by the Outer Space Treaty, any claims to sovereignty over a celestial body are worthless.

Yeah, good luck with that.
They may not be actual claims of sovereignty, but they are likely to be viewed as Sovereignty in fact by China.
But, we all can sleep better at night knowing that Biden's Space Team wants to share our space technology with China.

>>>People on President-elect Joe Biden’s NASA transition team are urging the United States to begin what could be the biggest transfer of technology to China. The giveaway could result in China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), dominating space and, with it, affairs on Earth.
“Trying to exclude them, I think, is a failing strategy,” Pam Melroy, a former astronaut and perhaps NASA’s next administrator, told an interviewer, referring to the Chinese. “It’s very important that we engage.”<<<<<

Most of Spock's claims about China are worthless.
Is a claim about a Million Uighurs in concentration camps worthless?
Are concerns about the move to a social credit system (assisted by western tech companies) worthless?
Are concerns about China's aggression to their neighbors over claims in the South China Sea worthless?
Are concerns about possible backdoors built into Huawei (for example) products worthless?
Are concerns about them stealing technology secrets worthless?
Oh, and BTW, why is it worthless to be concerned when Chinese TPTB liken heavenly bodies to islands in the South China Sea? Do you have any understanding of what is going on there?

Maybe you were unaware that "Space Force" has existed for many, many years within the US Air Force, just as the Air Force existed within the US Army prior to its creation.

Spock, be sure to check under your bed tonight before you go to sleep. Fu Manchu and Chairman Mao might be hiding under there.

Remember, that is "Spock, the High Plains Scout" to you.
You continually dazzle me with your high-powered attorney style rhetoric. Obviously, you haven't spent your 5 seconds of Googling on the South China Sea yet so you are unable to parrot the CCP propaganda lines on that topic.

Something I've noticed is that the right wingnuts always use CCP or Chinese Communist Party instead of just China. Maybe we should use the ARP or the American Republican Party instead of Americans until Jan. 20?

You have mentioned Fu Manchu several times in China threads. Sounds like you have a racist, cartoonish view of China. At least, I take them seriously.
Does "Speedy Gonzalez" come to your mind when Mexico is mentioned?

Thank you for agreeing with me. Space Force is Space Command, just a different name. Overseen a good deal of construction and other contract work for both.

I doubt you have a wide sample, but "We Have Been Harmonized: Life in China's Surveillance State" is by an Anti-Trump European who makes the same distinction between the CCP and the Chinese people.

Going back to the original concept of the thread, I have 2 "Space" books near the top of Mount TBR.(To Be Read)
I own "Winning Space: How America Remains a Superpower." At first glance, this appears to be a broad overview of space programs around the world.
Next on the Space list will be a more China-Focused book. I will order this one in January.
"Spacepower Ascendant: Space Development Theory and a New Space Strategy"

What does your reading list on Space strategy look like?
