Novelist and former Atlanta Journal columnist and reporter best known for his Southern novels, including To Dance with the White Dog which was made into a TV movie with Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn. Kay got his break when Pat Conroy recommended his novel to a publisher even though Kay hadn't begun writing the book yet.
Age 82.
