Note he's called an interim host. I expect Brad Rutter and others to folow.

This subject title should be in the form of a question.

On Twitter it was announced that production would resume on November 30th with a rotating series of guest hosts. I'm guessing that these will be tryouts for the permanent hosting gig.

Do all former contestants get a shot as a guest host? I should be on the list....

Randy West wrote:Tape will roll next Monday, November 30th, with a series of interim guest hosts from within the Jeopardy! family, starting with Ken Jennings. Additional guest hosts have not yet been announced.

As to airdates, Jeopardy! will honor Alex Trebek by airing 10 of his best episodes during the holidays - the weeks of Dec. 21 and Dec. 28th. Alex's last show had been scheduled for Christmas day, but has been pushed - his last five episodes will now air the week of Jan. 4th of 2021.

As for the weeks of guest hosts that will be taping starting next Monday, expect them to start airing the week of Jan. 11, 2021.
Hooray for more Alex to start the new year!

My guess is that the job will be Ken Jennings' if he wants it. It's a tremendous time commitment on a full-time basis.

Alex taped a week of shows per day just two days a week.

Ken was announced as one of the chasers on the reboot of "The Chase". I haven't heard if that's still happening or not.

Not at all clear that will actually happen as scheduled. Los Angeles County has just passed the threshold that health officials said would trigger another (albeit more limited) stay-at-home order. I'm guessing television production won't be exempted. The County Board of Supervisors is meeting today to discuss details. --Bob

Because he'd be working for two different companies at the same time.

Jennings's comment at the end of the article indicates he may be just temporary for a week or so, not a permanent host candidate.

As if that’s never happened before?

I’ll start you off with Anderson Cooper on CNN and CBS’ 60 Minutes

There's always a tweet...

Ken Jennings’ Past Tweets Mocking the Disabled Surface After ‘Jeopardy’ Guest Hosting Announcement

Twenty four hours after Sony Pictures Television announced that “Jeopardy” fan favorite Ken Jennings would be one of several guest hosts taking over the popular quiz show in January in the aftermath of the death of Alex Trebek, a four-year old tweet has returned to put a cloud over the occasion.

After Jennings’ gig was announced last night, actress and activist Yvette Nicole Brown posted a tweet decrying the casting choice. When asked by followers why she directed them to a tweet posted by Jennings on September 22, 2014 where he posted: “Nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair.” Jennings never condemned his actions at the time, and as of this writing the tweet is still up on his timeline. (Neither Jennings nor Sony Pictures Television responded for comment.)

Why wait over six years?

I feel sad when I see someone in a wheelchair too.

OK to look at someone and think, "that's too bad". Not OK to display abject pity. I mean, how can ANYONE look at a young child confined to a wheelchair and not feel a little sad?

But NEVER let that completely define any interaction with that person.

I always remember when I met Pea at Disney World years ago. She told me afterwards that after spending 5 minutes with Nancy and I, she kinda forgot I wasn't even IN a chair, or at least didn't have it present in her mind. That was pretty much the perfect response and what I believe most folks in my circumstances would like to hear. It is part of who we are but only a PART.

All that being said, there is an exception to my feelings on the matter. I used to get really pissed off at people with neuromuscular diseases who lambasted Jerry Lewis for his telethons, criticizing his parading of kids with M.D. before the cameras in order to elicit donations. Their reason was that they were doing just fine and didn't need to be cured to be happy and especially didn't want anyone using them or those kids in order to raise money, that they were happy as they were. Yeah, well that's all fine and dandy for them, but don't presume to speak for someone else...especially someone else's kids. If my kid was 7 years old and had one of the most severe forms of the disease, ensuring he/she would not live to see puberty, I would do WHATEVER it took to try to avert that future. ANYTHING. If it takes tugging at the heartstrings to open those purse strings, so be it. Let's face it, if you went on TV and said, "hey, we're all happy and doing very well, but send us your money for more research and maybe a cure anyway", chances are slim that you're gonna be rolling in dough. Besides, no one can convince me that if these offended individuals had a complete cure available to them, they would not jump on it. If they say otherwise they are either complete liars or completely nuts. Making the best of a bad situation and finding happiness and fulfillment is one thing, but turning down the opportunity to improve that situation, well...I mean, I do my best to roll with the punches and adjust best as I can, finding ways to still enjoy life, but if it meant sacrificing a little dignity in order to be able to walk a little again..hell, even for the ability to stand up for a couple of minutes at a time, get the hell outta my way, I'm signing up.

Anyway, returning from that little detour in the above paragraph, while Jennings didn't exactly put things in the best way...I am surprised the offense taken was about Jennings pitying the person because of the chair rather than the implication, intended or not, that only "hot" people in wheelchairs were capable of evoking those "sad" feelings in him.....I must admit that my first reaction was that it might be a case of overreaction by the more intense wing of the politically correct crowd.
