Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Baron Sacks of Aldgate, former Chief Rabbi of the United Kingdom, passed away this Shabbat at age 72.

The memory of the righteous is a blessing.

I was fortunate to hear Rabbi Sacks preach at a joyous Friday night service in 2018.

I once had the privilege of praying with Rabbi Steinsaltz at a Friday evening service. (I won't say how many decades ago, but his famous white beard was red back then.)

The memory of the righteous is a blessing.

From now on I'll avoid attending services with great Torah scholars.
