Hall of Fame second baseman on the Big Red Machine of the 1970s. Morgan was NL MVP the two years the Reds won the World Series in 1975 and 1976. He also broadcast baseball games for ESPN for a decade. Age 77.
It's proving to be a bad week for Hall-of-Famers.

Re: RIP Joe Morgan
Wow.
I saw him play for the Astros probably a hundred times. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it until Beast comes up with proof that I didn't.)
He and Jimmy Wynne ("Toy Cannon") -- the best that they had for years -- are both gone now. Hard to believe.
They were both fun to watch. Morgan's signature move was the popping of his left elbow while waiting for the pitch.
RIP Little Joe.

Re: RIP Joe Morgan
And one of the other of those early Astros who were among their best -- Rusty Staub -- also passed way too early.
