Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Sabah dies aged 91
His 83-year-old half-brother, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmed, has been named by the cabinet as his successor. In July, Sheikh Sabah was flown to the United States for medical treatment.
(The Emir's cousin, Rasha al-Sabah, was a graduate student at Yale in the late 1970's. We lived in the same dorm, though she also had an off-campus apartment and I don't remember meeting her.)
