That is not the score of the Atlanta Falcons vs. Miami Dolphins game, but, rather, the Atlanta Braves beating the Florida Marlins tonight. The Braves set a franchise record for runs scored, and, since it was a home game, they accomplished this in only eight innings of at-bats. They were also scoreless in the first and eighth innings, so the 29 runs came in six innings, the biggest of which was an 11-run second inning.

The modern record for most runs in a game by one team is 30, set by the Texas Rangers in 2007 against Baltimore. Two other teams have scored 29 runs in a game.

And the hell of it is, the Atlanta starting pitcher backed by all that support couldn't last long enough to qualify for the win. --Bob

Holy Crap!

Must've been something in the water yesterday...Milwaukee beat Detroit 19-0. Heck, even my Yankees scored 7..the way things have been going for them lately, scoring 7 is akin to finding a million bucks hidden in your attic.

Fun fact: Wes Littleton earned a save for the Rangers in that 30-run game.

It was much more nerve wracking than you make it sound... he was sent in to "protect" just an 11 run lead (The Rangers scored 16 of their runs while he was pitching).

Last night's "savior," Bryse Wilson, was handed a 14 run lead to hold...

I'm not sure of the answer to that question, but I do know which game you are talking about (I think it was actually a 12 run deficit), and the weird thing about it was that it cost the 2001 Mariners a chance to hold the record for most regular season wins all by themselves rather than tying the 190-whatever Cubs with 116...

Different game. The one I watched was definitely an 11-run lead. It flipped because the wind was blowing out at Wrigley and Mike Schmidt had (at least arguably) the best game of his Hall of Fame career. --Bob
