David "Monchhichi" Archuleta -- "And So it Goes" by Billy Joel. "With You" by Chris Brown. "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg.

David Cook -- "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack. "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot. "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith.

Syesha Mercado -- "If I Ain't Got You" By Alicia Keys. "Hit Me Up" by Gia Farrell (from "Happy Feet"). "Fever" -- which has been covered by everyone.

From what I understand, each contestant got to pick a song, then the judges and producers picked the rest.

I am guessing the producers are making David Cook sing "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" so they can pimp their boy David A.

I heard on the radio yesterday that David A's dad was banned from rehearsals this week.

I read about it in the LA Times.

Jeff Archuleta's intense backstage involvement had become a source of concern for the series, the person connected with "American Idol" said — but it was a lyric change on Tuesday's show that pushed producers to act.

Despite a warning, Jeff Archuleta insisted on altering "Stand by Me," one of two songs his son sang on the show Tuesday. By adding a verse from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," the father incurred additional costs for "American Idol," the person said.

That is true. Apparently, he'd been a pain in the ass the entire time, but he went too far when he had David change some of the lyrics to Stand By Me (having him sing a verse of Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston). With that, out went the elder Archuleta.

EW has a story about the Archie Dad ban. He wanted them to include a sample of Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" in "Stand By Me," which I think is a great idea, but his meddling had just gone too far. Also it would have cost them $$$.

David Cook's choice was "Don't Want to Miss a Thing"
Simon's choice was "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," which I think will be awesome
producers' (Clive Davis?) choice was the Switchfoot song

I don't know the Chris Brown song but I like the idea of challenging Archie with something current. Except that one was his choice, so he is challenging himself. Paula picked the very pretty Billy Joel song which I like a lot, and the producers picked the Dan Fogelberg.

Syesha herself chose "Fever," Randy picked the Alicia Keys, and the producers' choice was Gia Farrell's "Hit Me Up".
